GET TO KNOW US
The practice of social pediatrics took shape in the early 1990s. Dr. Gilles Julien founded the first two community social pediatric centers in disadvantaged neighborhoods of Montreal: in 1997 in Hochelaga ‐ Maisonneuve and in 2003 in Côte ‐ des -Neiges. Since then, the community social pediatrics movement has grown steadily in Quebec. Each year, teams are inspired by this approach to found their own center in the colors of their community. These centers, which are entirely autonomous, draw their financial support from the local community where they are established.

The mission of the Social and Community Pediatrics Center (CPSC) is to support vulnerable children and families in order to ensure their well-being and optimal development, while respecting their rights and interests by offering them access to interprofessional (health, social sciences and legal disciplines) and intersectoral with the various networks (health, social, municipal services, youth protection, schools, early childhood, community and legal).

Coordinators

Roxanne Lesage
Coordinator consultant, and family worker for Triple P.
Mother of three daughters and a citizen of Lachine since 2011, I have been working in the field of early childhood for over 25 years. I turned my passion for children and my need to get more involved in my community into the perfect job! What could be better than being part of the Community Social Paediatrics Center team! It gives me great pleasure to be part of the Lachine Community Social Paediatrics Center (CPSC) team and to see the Center grow in the Lachine community.
Doctors

Fazia Berkane
Family physician, clinical director
Graduated in 2015, my medical practice in the west of the island is mainly focused on children. Having grown up in the town of Saint-Pierre during part of my adolescence, I was able to develop a certain attachment there which made me want to be part of this beautiful social pediatrics project. I find it important that at my level I can participate in helping the children of this neighborhood by ensuring them access to a doctor. I am, therefore, proud to be part of a multidisciplinary team of health workers who put their all towards helping the children who will represent our future.
